Church Connect
Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Church Connect (“we”, the app at churchconnect.click and its Android app) keeps, who can see it, and how you can delete it. We keep only what the app needs to work, and we never sell your information.
Information we keep
- Your account: your name, email address and password. Your password is stored scrambled (hashed), so no one, including us, can read it.
- If you sign in with Google or Facebook: we receive only your name, email address and an account number from Google or Facebook, so we can recognize you next time. We never see or receive your Google or Facebook password, and we never post anything to your Facebook.
- Your profile photo, if you add one.
- Your churches: which churches you joined and your role (member, staff or admin).
- What you post: Home feed posts and their photos, comments, reactions, saved posts and reports; prayer requests; and events you create or join.
- Your notes and saved devotionals.
- Notifications: if you turn on pop-up notifications, a technical address your browser gives us so we can send them to your device.
- Security information: your internet (IP) address when you log in or sign up, kept for up to one day to stop password guessing and fake accounts.
Who can see your information
- Everyone using Church Connect can see your Home feed posts, photos, comments and reactions, together with your name and profile photo.
- Members of your church can see that church’s events, sermons and announcements, and prayer requests you share on the prayer wall.
- Your church’s admins and staff can see your name and email address and prayer requests you send to church leaders.
- Moderators can see reported posts and may remove content or block accounts that break the Community Guidelines.
- Only you can see your notes and saved posts. If you create a share link for a note, anyone with that link can read it until you stop sharing.
- Anyone who has the direct link to a photo you posted can open that photo.
Services we use
- Hostinger hosts the app and its database.
- Gmail sends emails such as account confirmation and password reset codes.
- Google Sign-In and Facebook Login, only if you choose “Continue with Google” or “Continue with Facebook”.
- Bible text services (bible.helloao.org, and the ESV API or API.Bible when available) provide Scripture. They receive which chapter you open, not who you are.
- Google Fonts provides the app’s fonts.
- Your browser’s or phone’s notification service (for example Google or Apple) delivers pop-up notifications if you turn them on.
We don’t use advertising or tracking services, and we don’t sell or rent your information to anyone.
Information on your device
The app saves some information on your device so it opens quickly and works offline, for example your settings, recently loaded posts and Bible chapters, and notes waiting to sync. Logging out removes your account information from that device.
Deleting your information
- You can delete any post, comment or note you created at any time.
- You can delete your whole account in Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, posts, photos, comments, reactions, notes, prayer requests and church memberships. If you signed up with Google or Facebook, type DELETE to confirm.
- If you used Facebook to sign in, you can also remove Church Connect in Facebook under Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites, and then delete your account here or ask us to.
- If you can’t log in, email us and we will delete your account for you.
Keeping it safe
The app uses an encrypted connection (https), stores passwords hashed, limits login attempts, and checks every action on the server so people can only see and change what they are allowed to. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
Church Connect is meant for people aged 13 and older. Children under 13 should only use it with a parent or guardian. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
